Girls Rock Math recognizes the importance of
providing STEM enrichment through our program to any girl or family who has the desire to attend camp,
regardless of economic background or resources. Thanks to our generous donors, the Girls Rock Math scholarship
fund provides access to summer camp for those who otherwise would not have the financial means to attend
camp.
If paying for camp would be a hardship for your family we encourage you to apply for a scholarship. We know that
camp is expensive and not within reach of all families. Many factors are taken into consideration including
household income, extenuating family circumstances, and the high cost of living in our region. Scholarships are
offered in order to offset the cost of camp.
Any family who would like to may apply for a scholarship, though we particularly encourage families to
apply if:
- You receive WIC, Basic Food or SNAP
- Your child qualifies for Seattle Public Schools Free and Reduced Lunch
- You are applying for a foster child
- Your total household income is less than 60% the Seattle median household income
Policy
It is the policy of Girls Rock Math to offer financial assistance to applicants whenever possible. Scholarship
amounts will be determined based on need, circumstances and available funds.
Application Process
Please complete the scholarship
application and wait for your recipient letter prior to registering for camp. Be as comprehensive
as possible with the information you provide in the application, including supporting financial documentation.
If you are applying for more than one child, please submit a separate application for each child.
Scholarship Awards
Our Scholarship Committee will review and award scholarships on the 1st of each month until all scholarship
funds are allocated. You can expect to hear from Girls Rock Math about the status of your application by the
15th of the month.
We will award scholarships in the amount of your child’s camp week at a discount of $100, $200, or $300 at the
discretion of the scholarship committee and available funds. Since funds are limited, scholarships awards are
limited to one week per child, per year. Morning and Afternoon Extended Day is provided at no cost to every
scholarship recipient.
Our BIPOC Equity Access Scholarship may cover up to 100% of camp costs.
Registration
Please do not register until you have received your award. We will provide a discount code for you to use that
will reduce the price of you camp based on the amount of award you receive.
After registration, you are responsible for any remaining balance after the scholarship funds have been
issued. Any remaining balance for camp will be automatically charged to your card on file on June 1st.
Please
note we cannot refund fees paid in advance of your scholarship decision.
Camp Availability
All camps have spots reserved for scholarship recipients. However, some of our camps fill up quickly and
scholarships are first-come, first-serve. In the case that your desired camp week, theme, or location is
unavailable we will provide you with alternatives to choose from when possible.
BIPOC Equity Access Scholarship
In order to provide opportunity to those who are the furthest from STEM Equity, Girls Rock Math dedicates a
portion of each scholarship donation to our BIPOC Equity Access Scholarship recipients. These scholarships are
offered specifically to those who identify as part of the BIPOC community and can cover up to 100% of the cost
of camp.
