Girls Rock Math's mission lies in strong efforts to address issues in equity and access, and
in bridging the opportunity gap. Summer camp is a unique and significant experience for young children
because it offers them a safe space to explore new interests, develop new skills, and build community in a
way that isn't afforded to them in any other setting. Summer camp is an experience that hugely impacts many
children, but unfortunately those children who would most benefit from summer camp often can't afford to go.

Why girls?
Studies show as early as second grade, girls are discouraged from subjects in school like
math. Girls often hear that “math is for boys” and “reading is for girls.”
These ideas limit potential, career options, achievement and motivation. When girls don’t feel confident and supported in pursuing careers in science and technology, it has serious economic impacts, like the gender wage gap which has an even greater effect on families and communities.

Between the ages of 7 and 12, the girls we serve are eager to learn, grow and take on the world. They are bright, capable, adventurous, curious and strong. Girls Rock Math provides thought-provoking, creative camp experiences in math and science, empowering girls to develop confidence in their skills and a lifelong interest in math.
